About Us

Our
Story

In a world where many feel isolated, Trinity United Church Community Centre stands as a beacon of unity and support. We're not just a church, but a village that combats loneliness with strength, solace, and love.

We understand the importance of community in our lives. In the past, people grew up in villages where everyone knew each other, and support was always at hand. Today, many people live alone, and children often lack the presence of caring adults in their lives. This shift has led to increased rates of depression and a sense of disconnection.

At Trinity, we aim to bridge this gap. For over 100 years, we've served as a community hub, providing a safe space for people to connect, support each other, and explore their spirituality free from judgement. Our core values of Kindness, Respect, and Fairness underpin everything we do, creating an environment where everyone feels at home, regardless of their religious or philosophical beliefs.

We're proud to be an inclusive, caring village. We celebrate the unique contributions each person brings, fostering a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and respected. We're more than a church - we're a community centre that actively contributes to our neighbourhood through supportive projects and inclusive events.

At Trinity, you'll find everything you never expected to find in a church. We're a place where love wins, where we draw strength and direction from the inspiration and example of Jesus, and where we experience together the Magic of Life and Love that some call God. We invite you to join us in making Trinity a vibrant, caring community.

At the heart of Trinity are three simple yet powerful values: Kindness, Respect, and Fairness. These values are our guiding principles - the foundation of our community, and the way we put the Golden Rule into practice.

Kindness is about more than being nice. It's about showing empathy, understanding, and compassion to everyone we encounter. It's about lending a helping hand, offering a listening ear, and being there for each other.

Respect means acknowledging and appreciating the inherent worth of every individual. It's about celebrating our differences, listening to each other's viewpoints, and treating everyone with dignity.

Fairness is about treating everyone equally, without bias or favouritism. It's about making decisions that are just and equitable, and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.

These values are the manifestation of love in our community. They guide our actions, shape our relationships, and help us create a safe, inclusive space where everyone feels valued and respected. At Trinity, we believe that living out these values is the best way to create a community that truly embodies the spirit of the Golden Rule.

Trinity's mission is fourfold:

1) Create a Safe Space: We aim to provide a safe, supportive, inter-generational community space for people of all sexual and gender identities. Our guiding principle is simple yet vital: treat others the way you wish to be treated—with kindness, respect, and fairness.

2) Strengthen Community Ties: We partner with neighbourhood organizations and governments to strengthen relationships and enhance services within the Argyle region of London.

3) Empower Through Training: We offer training for unemployed individuals in custodial services and provide training & paid employment opportunities in banqueting, fostering skills development and economic empowerment.

4) Nurture Spiritual Growth: We provide a judgement-free, inspirational spiritual home for all people of good will. For those on the Christian journey, we offer faith development within the context of the United Church of Canada.

This mission guides our actions and decisions, helping us create a community that is inclusive, supportive, and empowering.

Membership Policy

At Trinity United Church Community Centre, membership is open to anyone who aligns with our core values of Kindness, Respect, and Fairness.

We welcome all people of good will, regardless of their religious or philosophical beliefs, age, gender, sexuality, race, or any other factor. Our community is diverse and inclusive, and we celebrate the unique perspectives and contributions each member brings.

Our community thrives on mutual respect. We expect members to treat others as they wish to be treated, fostering an environment of kindness. Consistently unkind or disrespectful behaviour may lead to a review of membership status. However, we believe in change and growth, and individuals demonstrating a commitment to our values are always welcome.

Our behavioural covenant is simple: We strive to create a safe, supportive space where everyone is treated with kindness, respect, and fairness. We expect all members to contribute to this environment and to respect the rights, dignity, and worth of all individuals both at Trinity and beyond.

We reserve the right to review and amend this policy as needed to ensure the safety, well-being, and inclusivity of our community.
